With the idea from my MIL, my newest house project is to add outdoor curtains to our covered patio. We thought it would add some extra comfort to our outdoor living space, and since we sit out there all the time, it also would add a little privacy from our neighbors. So the research began, and I found out that this was going to become an expensive project, really fast. So I started brainstorming and Googling, and here is what I came up with.
I decided to go for chocolate brown curtains, and I needed the longest length they make, which is 108”. I found an awesome website called Improvements that offered the curtains for $65.99 a piece, but they had a 20% off coupon! I needed 6 curtains, so I went for it! Shipping was ridiculous, something like $90, but they also had something called the Buyers Club where you paid $30 once, and you became a member for a year, and added bonus: Free Shipping on your first order! So it made sense to buy this. Now on to the curtain rods. This is where I freaked out and almost gave up, but my creativity (and Ph.D in Google) saved me a ton of money. The rods were running $64.99 also, and I needed 4 of them. So instead of spending at least $260 plus shipping, Terry and I hopped in the car to Lowes. We ended up buying three 10 foot electrical conduit pipes, some bronze spray paint, and some hooks, costing us a grand total of $37.46. Our neighbor helped us cut the conduit to the sizes I needed, and our project began. I decided to add an outdoor rug as well, which really made it feel like an outdoor room! Pics are at the bottom of this post... it is still a work in progress, but I love it! I also included some photos of my landscaping. I guess I like a lot of color...
